Branimir Bencic, Zagreb, Croatia

Janka Kupcakova, Slovak Republic

Albert Vermue, The Netherlands

Ich komme aus China. Der Deutschkurs ist sehr gut!

Xiang Yin, China

Shao Yiwen, China

Learn German in Austria - or improving your ability - to speak a foreign language can be an enjoyable and rewarding part of international travel. We definitely discovered this to be true in September hen we took a 2-week course in intermediate German at the University of Klagenfurt in Austria. We found the small classes, conducted in modern university buildings, fun and stimulating and the teachers helpful and encouraging. We thoroughly enjoyed the other students, who came from a variety of countries. We stayed in the inexpensive youth hostel near the university; rooms were spartan but clean and comfortable. Klagenfurt is located in a quiet corner of southern Austria, away from the main tourist routes. A city of some 90,000 people, it is next to beautiful Wörthersee, has wonderful walking and bike paths and is surrounded by towering mountains. Summer and fall classes, for beginners through advanced, range from two to eight weeks in length.

Sam & Joan Matthews, Tracy, CA

For me, "Deutsch in Österreich" was a lifetime experience! ... not only because of the high standards ensured by the quality of the faculty and the course content, but also because of the serene surroundings ideal for learning a foreign language. Teaching methods are effective with a focus on high degree of self-work supported by interaction between fellow students. Klagenfurt is a special place where I made new friends, thoroughly enjoyed the breathtaking view of the Karawanken ranges, cycled along the picturesque Wörthersee and spent hours practicing German in a small, laid back city with very friendly people. Whether it is to sharpen my German language skills or to combine that with a great time in south of Austria -.. I would return to Klagenfurt if I can.

Amitabh Bhanot, Business Strategist, Mees Pierson Investment Bank, The Netherlands

In the University course "German as a foreign and second language" I was placed in level nine and found it was definitely worth the time and money, as I learned grammar I had not known before and picked up new vocabulary and expressions. I would sign up again without hesitation.

Brad Rappaport, Merrick, NY

I spent six months in Klagenfurt. The university has a great atmosphere, there were lots of extra-curricular activities and parties for us to participate in. The dormatories were comfortable and modern, and I had 24 hour computer access to e-mail home. I thought I would miss my car, but the public transportation was more than adequate. I also traveled to Germany, Switzerland, Slovenia and Italy. The "Deutsch als Fremdsprache" teachers were patient and knowledgable. I am now a German teacher myself, and use the DaF teachers as role models. I enjoyed being immersed in German (that's hard to get at UMKC, because even though we all speak German, we would slip into English far too often). In class, I also got to meet people from all over the world who were also learning German. If you have the chance, come to Klagenfurt !

Shawna Sue Boyd, University of Missouri, Kansas City

I enjoyed very much these four weeks attending the "DiÖ" course. The atmosphere was really good and I learned a lot. I am willing to come here next year again.

Margherita Orlando, Italy

The course suited me very well. I enjoyed all aspects of it and felt the course teachers in my course were very helpful. I feel much more confident in my understanding of 'spoken german' and the grammar.

Revathee Naidu, Australia

The course is very intensive, there is plenty of material covered in three weeks. The teachers are very helpful and patient. The course is also a good way to familiarize oneself with the university and presents an atmosphere that reorganizes oneself in anticipation of the semester.

Michael Scheidt, USA

I took the intensive course autumn #2. We were in a class of 6 students including myself. I was the only Japanese in the class. We had students from Croatia, England, Italy, Russia and Sweden. I really enjoyed studying in this school and the lessons helped me a lot to brush up my German. I have had some intensive courses at other Austrian universities before, but I think that the courses here at the University of Klagenfurt are the best of all.

Akiko Saito, Tokyo, Japan

The course was great! It helped me lot with understanding, writing, reading and speaking. You can learn a great deal with these courses and the professors will assist and help you with any question and exercise. This course shoud be taken!

Carlos Haderspöck, Bolivia

I am very happy to stay in Austria. This is a wonderful country. I love Austria and the Austrian people, because they are altruistic and very friendly persons. The intensive course was excellent. The accommodation in the youth hostel too. Regarding me, I am not upset at all about the life in here. Danke!

Maurizio Destefano Leporano, Taranto, Italy

The only problem with the intensive course is that you don't get to stay in Klagenfurt long enough. Everyone is so helpful, the city is so nice and you meet the greatest friends - you won't want to leave! The nine o'clock starts can be a nuisance but everything else is wonderful!

Emily Morgan, Australia

The "German in Austria" program is very useful whether you intend to stay in Austria for three weeks or for the entire semester. I was very satisfied with the services provided and I would encourage participation in this program.

Pete McRoberts, USA

I had a wonderful experience in Austria. I feel that I have learned more in one month than I learned in a year in my university. Being out into an atmosphere where German is spoken all around me has made me realize I have a long way to go, but I love German and I will learn it one day. I've also met so many international students and I've loved every day with them.

Kristy, University of Alabama

The course at Klagenfurt was definitely the highlight of my college experience. The course was excellent and the interaction between students and the teachers. It is definitely the most fun you can have with your clothes on!

University of Alabama, Ein amerikanischer Student

I enjoyed the stay in Klagenfurt. I learned a lot in 4 weeks because the class was thaught completely in German and while this was hard at first I caught on quickly. The classes were small and the faculty was very attentive and helpful. The atmosphere in Klagenfurt is nice and it helped to create a great center for learning. I am having a boarder sense of the Austrian culture which I am very thankful for.

Laura Stidger, University of Alabama

My experience in Klagenfurt has been more than I thougth it could be. The teachers are the best and the country and people are fascinating. Klagenfurt has plenty to offer for any personality. My class experience was also more than I had hoped and the only thing I would change would be my plane ticket home.

Luke Trawick, University of Alabama

... having the right teacher made a world of difference in making the class fun and worth taking......

Brock Beiersdorfer, University of Alabama

The best language course I ever took! They make you work.

Nelson White, USA

My experience in Klagenfurt was very unique. I learned a great deal in a relayed atmosphere. In addition I was able to meet people from all over the world and travelled throughout Europe. All in all it was a very positive experience that I would recommend to anyone.

Louis Maygarden, USA

Hello! I have been in Klagenfurt two years ago and it was fabulous. A lot of German, a lot of fun, expecially on the lake "Wörthersee". If you have enough time and money to stay there, I would definitely recommend it to you. Mozartheim is the best place to stay and teachers are good. The only problem is too many Italians who try to speak Italian all the time!

Enjoy your stay, Mirjana. Antic, Slovenia

Certainly, I have enjoyed my German course. It has been such a good experience to learn about the University, its program, the city and so on ...

Anna Ramos-Fernandez, Spain

It was a great learning experience and I enjoyed every single minute.

Andrew Eaton, USA

The DiÖ program is to be highly recommended. The instructors are well-learned in their fields and are able to give individual help when requested. Klagenfurt is one of the best-kept secrets -"the garden spot of Europe." The area is quite beautiful and the climate in summer generally pleasant. There are more opportunities to speak the target language than in other locations where I have taken similar language courses.

Danie Holt, USA

I do recommend this course to all Scandinavian youth. Really exotic to meet youth from all over the world. Accommodation in the Youth Hostel was good! Breakfast included.

Gulla Johnson, Norway

It was very pleasant to study in this course. We had a small group and wonderful teachers. We had a good practice in spoken German and interesting activities in the evenings. I'd like to stay here more or come again.

Julia Mashkovich, Israel

It was really great to be here, 'cause I met so many new people and it's the best language course of all. The school program was good. Klagenfurt is a really nice city but I had problems with the banks because they close that early. But in general it was GREAT!

Alice Martinova, Latvia

I am very pleased with my intensive course because when I first came here, I couldn't understand a word in German and now, after three weeks, I can even speak!

Blanca Nunez, Spain

I am living here with my Austrian boyfriend and his family. Learning German here with Angelika and my classmates was really good. I have a nice knowledge of the language and am able to speak and communicate a lot more. This was the first step and with the help of the course, a further reason to continue learning! The language is hard, but their techniques are great.

Hayley Williams, Bermudas

I had the best time of my life in Klagenfurt. I learned more than I ever thought I would, and more some great friends. I am returning this summer for another month, and I am looking forward to it. Ciao.

Karen Chacey, USA

I guess the best about this course was the combination of the two teaching ways: Herr Hannes und Frau Daniela, both energical and fully dedicated. I consider this course a wonderful experience which put me in contact with the German language, the Austrian way of life, Austrian culture and history. Danke! Also thanks to Frau Elisabeth Neunhoeffer for her extremely interesting phonetics lessons.

Carmen Torsch, Romania

Marta Rodriguez Ruiz, Spain

Hola!

Alessandra Tomasin, Italy

Alice Fermi, Italy

In queste 4 settimane ho imparato molto.

Sara Bresciani, Italy

Oi gente, eu sou o Bruno do Brasil. Abraco, Pato Fui.

Bruno Sena, Brazil
