Certificates - Credits - Attendance Certificates

Students who successfully attend one of our German Intensive Courses receive a certificate which contains the following information:

  • length of course (from - to)
  • total number of lessons
  • the language level at which the course was held
  • grading for each of the four language skills: speaking | writing | listening | reading*
  • an overall grade under the following assessment headings: 1 = very good | 2 = good | 3 = fair | 4 = satisfactory | 5 = non satisfactory

Credits - according to the US educational system

In keeping up with the North American education system the Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt awards semester hours of credit according to the following scheme:

15 contact hours = 1 credit

Each course participant who needs credits for study or for re-certification purposes must inform the course director upon entering the course, in all cases allowing adequate time.

Note: ECTS-credits (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) are awarded for the attendence of the University Semester Courses "German as a foreign and second language" only.

Attendance certificates

In case too many lessons have been missed (min. attendance of 80% is required) or any other reason, for which a course certificate can't be issued, students receive an attendance certificate if requested.

*Grading for each of the language skills only, if minimum course length is 3 weeks. Please note that a negative grade (5 = failed) in one of the language skills automatically results in a negative overall grade. Certificates issued for 2-weeks-courses will only show the overall grade.

Info In contrast to the intensive courses, for the university semester course "German as a Foreign and Second Language" ECTS-credits are awarded.

Info If requested, we send your certificate in a sealed envelope to your home university.
