Studying at the Alpen-Adria-Universität
The outstanding quality of the teaching, a broad range of degree programs, continuing education options and a green campus in leafy surroundings all combine to make the Alpen-Adria-Universität an ideal place to study. The Alpen-Adria-Universität (AAU) is a young and vibrant campus university and is host to approximately 10,000 students, who pursue their studies and carry out research.
The broad range of subjects encompasses degree programs in Humanities, Technical Sciences and Business Administration and Economics, degree program leading to secondary school teacher accreditation, with a choice of ten teaching subjects.
The high quality supervision as well as the practice-oriented and research-driven teaching are the distinctive features of the degree programs at the AAU. The offer is supplemented by more than 50 continuing education programs, confirming the AAU as one of the largest (most important) providers of academic continuing education in Austria. English-language degree programs and courses, international joint degree programs and a wide variety of opportunities to study abroad further highlight the international orientation of the Alpen-Adria-Universität.
Interdisciplinarity is an essential characteristic of the AAU and (in the area of studies) this is particularly apparent in the interdisciplinary degree programs, elective modules and courses.
The Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt is located in the southern part of Austria, in the immediate vicinity of Lake Wörthersee and a short distance from Slovenia and Italy. Equipped with a modern infrastructure and offering a large number of leisure activities, the campus delivers ideal conditions for studying and for recreation.
Preparatory Course Program for Supplementary Examinations
Students who intend to enrol in the university degree programs are required, as per decision of the Rectorate of the university of Klagenfurt, to pass a supplementary exam designed to demonstrate their knowledge of the German language. They may also be required to pass exams in other subjects to meet the requirements for full admission in the degree program. In preparation for the supplementary German exam, the program provides the language skills necessary for the successful pursual of university studies.
